В Ливане распространённость употребления табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше остаётся очень высокой, согласно последним доступным данным за 2024 год. Общий уровень употребления табака среди взрослых составил 47%, что подчёркивает серьёзную проблему общественного здравоохранения. По данным, распределённым по полу, в 2024 году табак употребляли 53,8% мужчин и 40,8% женщин. По оценкам, в стране в 2024 году курили около 2 миллионов человек. Для сравнения, данные предыдущих лет показывают незначительное снижение распространённости курения среди женщин с 25,9% в 2020 году до 25,7% в 2022 году, в то время как среди мужчин отмечено небольшое увеличение с 42,8% до 43,1% за тот же период. В качестве справки: в 2017 году ежедневное употребление табака среди взрослых составляло 23,3%, в том числе среди мужчин — 29,5%, а среди женщин — 18,6%. Употребление табака стало причиной 11,45% всех смертей в стране в 2021 году, при этом эта доля среди мужчин составила 13,91%, а среди женщин — 8,04%. В целом ежегодно фиксируется 5689 смертей, связанных с употреблением табака, включая 4019 мужчин и 1671 женщин. Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющиеся трудности, с которыми сталкивается Ливан в противодействии употреблению табака и его последствиям для здоровья.
