As of 2018, approximately 13,400 people in Gambia were reported as current users of traditional smokeless tobacco. The adult current use prevalence was 1.1%, with 1.4% of women and 0.8% of men using these products. Daily use of these products was slightly lower, at 0.9% overall, with 1.3% of women and 0.4% of men reporting daily use. Despite this usage, traditional smokeless tobacco is banned in Gambia. It is illegal to sell or purchase the product.
