The adult tobacco smoking prevalence among males was reported to be 18.1%, while for females, it was significantly lower at 0.4%. The overall adult smoking prevalence was 9.1%, showing a slight decrease from previous years, such as 13.1% in 2019 and 9.7% in 2020. The absolute number of smokers aged 15 and older in Gambia was approximately 125,948 in 2022, a slight decrease from 126,112 in 2020 and a more significant drop from 166,465 in 2019.
