В Тонга курение разрешено с некоторыми практическими ограничениями. Продажа и ввоз сигарет, включая покупки через торговые автоматы и онлайн-платформы, легальны. В стране действуют определённые нормативные меры, среди которых минимальный возраст для покупки составляет 18 лет, а также существуют ограничения на курение в общественных местах. На табачные изделия в Тонга применяется совокупная налоговая ставка 0,67. Согласно данным по распространённости, в 2024 году 30,2% взрослых в Тонга курят табак, при этом среди женщин этот показатель составляет 16,1%, а среди мужчин — 47,4%. По оценкам, общее количество курящих в стране составляет 20 000 человек. В 2021 году в Тонга примерно 108 смертей были связаны с курением табака, включая 23 случая среди женщин и 85 среди мужчин. Эти случаи составляли 16,13% от всех смертей в стране — 7,37% среди женщин и 23,55% среди мужчин.
