В Эритрее влияние курения табака на общественное здоровье является значительным. По состоянию на 2024 год в стране насчитывалось 113 000 человек, которые курят, что немного больше по сравнению с 111 875 в 2019 году. Согласно данным за 2020 год, 5,1% взрослых были текущими курятв, при этом среди мужчин распространённость составляла 10,2%, а среди женщин значительно ниже — 0,2%. Последние показатели смертности за 2021 год свидетельствуют о том, что 2,83% всех случаев смерти в стране были связаны с причинами, обусловленными курением. Также 4,45% всех смертей среди мужчин и 0,87% — среди женщин были связаны с употреблением табака. В 2021 году ежегодное количество смертей, связанных с курением, составило 1 440 случаев, из которых 1 238 — среди мужчин и 201 — среди женщин. Для сравнения, в 2016 году было зафиксировано 962 таких случая, что свидетельствует о заметном увеличении числа смертей за последние годы. Эти данные подчёркивают продолжающуюся проблему общественного здравоохранения, связанную с курением табака в Эритрее, и необходимость дальнейших усилий в сфере здравоохранения для решения этой проблемы.
