В Республике Конго курение табака остаётся серьёзной проблемой общественного здравоохранения. По данным на 2024 год, распространённость текущего употребления табака среди людей в возрасте 15 лет и старше составляет 15,2%, при этом наблюдается заметная гендерная разница: среди мужчин — 29,4%, среди женщин — лишь 1,2%. Это свидетельствует о росте по сравнению с 2020 годом, когда доля курящих мужчин составляла 26,9%. В 2024 году количество курящих табак оценивалось примерно в 550 000 человек, что больше по сравнению с 430 167 в 2020 году. Для справки: в 2017 году распространённость ежедневного употребления табака среди взрослых составляла 17,4%, среди мужчин — 33,8%, среди женщин — 1,1%. Смертность, связанная с употреблением табака, также вызывает тревогу: в 2021 году курение табака способствовало 3,51% всех случаев смерти, что соответствует 1 625 случаям, в том числе 1 362 среди мужчин и 263 среди женщин. Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющиеся проблемы, связанные с курением табака в Конго, и необходимость эффективных мер общественного здравоохранения по их преодолению.
