W Kongo palenie tytoniu pozostaje poważnym problemem zdrowia publicznego. Według szacunków z 2022 roku odsetek osób palących tytoń wśród mieszkańców w wieku 15 lat i starszych wynosił 14,4%, przy czym widoczna jest znacząca różnica między płciami: 28,2% palących wśród mężczyzn i jedynie 0,8% wśród kobiet. Oznacza to wzrost w porównaniu z rokiem 2020, kiedy rozpowszechnienie palenia wśród mężczyzn wynosiło 26,9%. Liczba osób palących tytoń w 2022 roku wyniosła około 476 627, w porównaniu do 430 167 w 2020 roku. Dla porównania, w 2017 roku codzienne palenie tytoniu wśród dorosłych wynosiło 17,4%, z czego 33,8% stanowili mężczyźni, a 1,1% kobiety. Śmiertelność związana z paleniem tytoniu stanowi również niepokojący trend w kraju. W 2021 roku palenie tytoniu przyczyniło się do 3,51% wszystkich zgonów, co odpowiada 1 625 przypadkom, z czego 1 362 to mężczyźni, a 263 to kobiety. Dane te podkreślają utrzymujące się zagrożenia zdrowotne związane z paleniem tytoniu w Kongo oraz konieczność wdrożenia skutecznych działań zdrowotnych w celu rozwiązania tego problemu.
