В Центральноафриканской Республике на 2024 год количество взрослых, которые курят, оценивается в 308 000 человек. Данные свидетельствуют о том, что смертность, связанная с курением, остаётся значительной проблемой общественного здравоохранения в стране. В 2021 году, по данным исследования Global Burden of Disease (GBD), было зарегистрировано 1 917 смертей, обусловленных курением: из них 281 женщина и 1 636 мужчин. Доля всех смертей, связанных с употреблением табака, в 2021 году составила 2,6% (0,89% среди женщин и 3,88% среди мужчин). Для сравнения, в 2016 году Tobacco Atlas сообщал о более высоком числе смертей от курения — 3 093, среди которых 608 женщин и 2 485 мужчин. Тогда доля смертей, связанных с курением, составляла 5,05% в целом, 1,6% для женщин и 5,9% для мужчин. Несмотря на то что эти данные указывают на снижение как абсолютного числа смертей, связанных с курением, так и их доли в общей смертности с 2016 по 2021 год, нагрузка от курения по-прежнему остаётся высокой и требует дальнейших эффективных усилий по снижению его воздействия на общественное здоровье.
