В Бангладеш текущая распространённость курения табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше по состоянию на 2024 год оценивалась в 15,9%. Это свидетельствует о снижении по сравнению с предыдущими годами: в 2020 году распространённость курения среди взрослых составляла 18,6%, а в 2019 году — 20,9%. Абсолютное число взрослых, которые на данный момент курят табак, в 2024 году составило примерно 19,7 миллиона, что ниже показателей 21,9 миллиона в 2020 году и 24 миллиона в 2019 году. По гендерным различиям, распространённость курения табака среди мужчин в 2024 году была значительно выше — 32,5% против 0,3% среди женщин. Для мужчин это также означает снижение по сравнению с 36,4% в 2020 году и 40,8% в 2019 году; среди женщин распространённость также снизилась с 0,5% в 2020 году и 1% в 2019 году. В 2018 году ежедневное курение табака среди взрослых составляло 22,3%, причём среди мужчин распространённость достигала 44,4%, а среди женщин — 0,9%. В 2021 году курение табака стало причиной 130 135 случаев смерти в стране, что составляет 11,87% всех смертей за тот год. Данные показывают, что смертность, связанная с курением, составила 16,83% всех смертей среди мужчин и 4,98% среди женщин. Эти показатели подчёркивают серьёзные вызовы для общественного здравоохранения, связанные с курением табака в Бангладеш, и указывают на необходимость продолжения мер и политики в сфере общественного здравоохранения для снижения его последствий.
