W 2021 roku na Malediwach szacowano, że 16 300 dorosłych osób używało tradycyjnego tytoniu bezdymnego, co odpowiadało rozpowszechnieniu na poziomie 3,8% wśród dorosłych. Użycie tego typu tytoniu było nieco wyższe wśród kobiet (4,2%) niż mężczyzn (3,4%). Codzienne stosowanie zadeklarowało 3,3% dorosłych, w tym 3,9% kobiet i 2,8% mężczyzn. Tradycyjny tytoń bezdymny jest na Malediwach legalny i traktowany jako wyrób tytoniowy, co oznacza, że można go legalnie sprzedawać i używać, jednak zakup przez internet jest zabroniony. Obowiązuje zakaz wszelkich form reklamy wyrobów tytoniowych oraz wymóg umieszczania ostrzeżeń zdrowotnych na opakowaniach. Minimalny wiek uprawniający do zakupu wynosi 18 lat.
