En 2021, se estimaba que en Maldivas había 16,300 consumidores actuales de tabaco sin humo tradicional, lo que correspondía a una prevalencia del 3.8% en adultos. Su uso entre las mujeres era ligeramente superior, con un 4.2%, frente al 3.4% de los hombres. El uso diario se registró en el 3.3% de los adultos, incluyendo el 3.9% de las mujeres y el 2.8% de los hombres. El tabaco sin humo tradicional es legal en Maldivas y está regulado como producto de tabaco. Por tanto, su venta y consumo están permitidos, aunque no se permiten las compras en línea. El país aplica una prohibición total de la publicidad de tabaco en cualquiera de sus formas y exige advertencias sanitarias en los envases. Además, la edad mínima para la venta es de 18 años.
