Yes. Millions of people have already switched from smoking to safer nicotine products. We estimate that around 130–150 million people worldwide now use safer nicotine products, including 129 million who use nicotine vapes (e-cigarettes).

However, this also means that safer nicotine products remain inaccessible to many people who smoke. Around 1.1 billion people worldwide still smoke, with approximately four in five living in low- and middle-income countries, while the use of safer nicotine products remains concentrated in higher-income settings.
