La terapia de reemplazo de nicotina (TRN) está permitida en Etiopía y sus productos se regulan como medicamentos. Por lo tanto, es legal vender y utilizar productos de TRN. Estos productos se encuentran disponibles en farmacias; sin embargo, su adquisición requiere receta médica. El gobierno brinda apoyo financiero parcial para la TRN, ya que estos productos están incluidos en la lista nacional de medicamentos esenciales.
