En 2017, se estimaba que 2,5 millones de adultos en Argelia eran consumidores actuales de tabaco sin combustión tradicional. La prevalencia total de consumo actual entre adultos era del 8,9 por ciento. Entre los hombres adultos, la prevalencia alcanzaba el 17,3 por ciento, mientras que entre las mujeres adultas era del 0,4 por ciento. La prevalencia de consumo diario de tabaco sin combustión tradicional entre adultos era del 7,6 por ciento, con un 15,5 por ciento en hombres y un 0,3 por ciento en mujeres. El tabaco sin combustión tradicional está legalmente permitido en Argelia y se regula como un producto de tabaco. La venta y el consumo del producto son legales, y también se permite su compra en línea. Sin embargo, los envases deben portar advertencias sanitarias y se aplica una restricción de edad mínima de 18 años para todas las ventas.
