As of 2008, there were approximately 84,300 current users of traditional smokeless tobacco in Chad. The overall prevalence of current use of these products among adults was 1.2 percent, with 1.9 percent among males and 0.4 percent among females. Traditional smokeless tobacco is allowed and regulated as a tobacco product in Chad. It is legal to sell and use the product. However, online purchase of traditional smokeless tobacco is not permitted. Health warnings on packaging are required, and a minimum age restriction of 18 years is enforced for sales.
