The gender-specific mortality data shows that 1,037 male and 265 female deaths were attributable to smoking in the same year. These statistics represent the ongoing impact of tobacco smoking in Mauritius, highlighting the importance of continued public health efforts to reduce smoking prevalence and its associated health burdens.
