In 2012, there were approximately 82,500 current users of traditional smokeless tobacco in Comoros. The overall current prevalence of traditional smokeless tobacco use among adults was 18.4 percent, with 19.5 percent among males and 17.4 percent among females. The prevalence of daily use of these products was 16.4 percent, including 17.1 percent among males and 15.4 percent among females. Traditional smokeless tobacco is allowed and regulated as a tobacco product in Comoros. It is legal to sell and use the product, and online purchase is permitted. However, health warnings on packaging are required, and a minimum age restriction of 18 years is enforced for sales.
