In 2018, approximately 41,700 individuals in Cameroon used traditional smokeless tobacco products, representing 0.3% of the adult population. Among women, the prevalence was notably higher at 9.3%, compared to 2.6% among men. In terms of regulations, traditional smokeless tobacco is allowed in Cameroon and is regulated as a tobacco product. Hence, it is legal to sell and use these products. There are no minimum age restrictions on the sale of these products. However, health warnings on packaging are required.
