В Парагвае распространённость курения табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше демонстрирует заметную тенденцию к снижению в последние годы. В 2024 году общая распространённость курения среди взрослых составила 6,3%, при этом среди мужчин этот показатель был 10,1%, а среди женщин — 6,3%. Эти данные свидетельствуют о снижении по сравнению с предыдущими годами, например, в 2020 году общая распространённость курения составляла 11,7%, среди мужчин — 18,8%, среди женщин — 4,4%. Количество людей, которые курят, уменьшилось с 621 767 человек в 2019 году до 540 696 в 2022 году и 307 000 в 2024 году. Для сравнения, в 2017 году ежедневная распространённость курения среди взрослых составляла 9,1%, среди мужчин — 14,8%, среди женщин — 3,2%. Смертность, связанная с курением, остаётся актуальной проблемой общественного здравоохранения: в 2021 году 3 955 случаев смерти были связаны с курением, что составило 7,77% всех смертей в стране. Из этого числа 2 912 смертей пришлись на мужчин (9,76% всех случаев смерти среди мужчин) и 1 043 на женщин (4,95% среди женщин). Эти показатели подчёркивают сохраняющиеся вызовы для системы здравоохранения Парагвая, связанные с курением табака, несмотря на отмечаемое снижение его распространённости.
