Курение разрешено и регулируется в Панаме. В соответствии с действующими нормами продажа, интернет-покупка и импорт сигарет для коммерческих целей разрешены, однако продажа через автоматы запрещена. Существует полный запрет на любую рекламу табака, включая сигареты. На упаковке сигарет обязательно должны размещаться предупреждения о вреде для здоровья, а также действуют законодательные ограничения на курение в общественных местах. Минимальный возраст для покупки сигарет составляет 18 лет. На сигареты распространяется общий налоговый сбор в размере 0,57. В 2024 году, по оценкам, 4,5% взрослого населения курят, в том числе 1,9% среди женщин и 7,2% среди мужчин. Общее количество тех, кто в настоящее время курит, составило 150 000 человек. В 2021 году курение стало причиной 991 случая смерти, что составляет 4,13% от всех смертей в стране — 2,59% среди женщин и 5,27% среди мужчин.
