В 2018 году решение окружного суда Новой Зеландии разрешило продажу стиковых табачных изделий (ПНТ) в соответствии с Законом о зонах, свободных от курения 1990 года. Дело было между компанией Philip Morris International (производителем IQOS) и Министерством здравоохранения Новой Зеландии. Закон, регулирующий стиковые табачные изделия, предусматривает, что их нельзя продавать или рекламировать несовершеннолетним (до 18 лет). Министерство здравоохранения Новой Зеландии заявило о намерении разработать нормативную базу, соразмерную рискам, для продуктов, подпадающих под действие Закона о зонах, свободных от курения 1990 года, включая стиковые табачные изделия.
