На Маврикии за последние годы наблюдаются заметные изменения в распространённости курения табака. По состоянию на 2024 год, распространённость текущего курения среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше составляла 17,2%, при этом сохраняется существенная разница между мужчинами и женщинами: среди мужчин — 32,1%, среди женщин — 2,3%. В сравнении с предыдущими годами отмечается постепенное снижение этих показателей: в 2020 году общий уровень составлял 19,9%, для мужчин — 37,6%, для женщин — 2,9%. Эту тенденцию подтверждают и данные о количестве людей, которые курят: с 224 908 человек в 2019 году до 184 000 в 2024 году. Для справки, распространённость ежедневного курения среди взрослых в 2017 году составляла 16% — среди мужчин 31,2%, среди женщин 1,5%. В 2021 году сообщалось о 1 301 смерти, связанной с курением, что составляет 9,86% всех случаев смертности в стране. Гендерные данные по смертности показывают, что в том же году по причине курения умерли 1 037 мужчин и 265 женщин. Эти статистические данные отражают продолжающееся влияние курения табака на Маврикии и подчёркивают необходимость дальнейших усилий в области общественного здравоохранения, направленных на сокращение распространённости курения и связанных с ним бремен для здоровья.
