В Мадагаскаре по состоянию на 2024 год распространённость курения среди взрослых мужчин составляла 15,9%, тогда как среди женщин этот показатель был существенно ниже — 1,1%. Общая распространённость курения среди взрослого населения также составила 15,9%, что представляет собой небольшое увеличение по сравнению с 2020 годом, когда этот показатель составлял 15,8%, а среди мужчин и женщин был равен 30,8% и 1,1% соответственно. Общее количество взрослых, которые курят, в 2024 году составило примерно 3 миллиона человек, что больше чем в 2020 году, когда насчитывалось 2 523 140 курящих. В 2017 году ежедневное курение среди взрослых было распространено среди 27,7% мужчин и 1,5% женщин. Что касается последствий для здоровья, курение табака привело к 5 485 смертям в 2021 году, что соответствует 2,65% всех смертей в стране. Смерти, связанные с курением, составили 3,77% всех мужских смертей и 1,34% всех женских смертей в тот же год, что выразилось в 4 210 и 1 274 случаях соответственно. Эти данные подчеркивают продолжающуюся проблему общественного здравоохранения в Мадагаскаре и необходимость эффективных мер для снижения бремени заболеваний и смертности, связанных с курением.
