Электронные сигареты в Южной Корее легальны и находятся под различными нормативными ограничениями. Продажа разрешена только через специализированные розничные точки, при этом онлайн-покупки запрещены. Запрещено делать заявления о пользе электронных сигарет для здоровья, а сами изделия облагаются налогом в размере не менее 50% от ставки, установленной для традиционных сигарет. Кроме того, вся упаковка электронных сигарет должна содержать предупреждения о вреде для здоровья, а продажа разрешена только тем, кому исполнилось 19 лет и старше. Концентрация никотина в жидкостях для электронных сигарет не должна превышать 20 мг/мл, а использование устройств ограничено в общественных местах. В настоящее время ограничения по вкусовым добавкам в этих продуктах отсутствуют. По оценкам, в 2022 году в Южной Корее около 1,6 миллиона человек использовали электронные сигареты; 3,5% взрослого населения регулярно курят электронные сигареты. Среди мужчин этот показатель составил 5,6%, среди женщин – 1,3%.
