В 2024 году в Индонезии отмечалась высокая распространённость употребления табачных изделий и связанной с этим смертности среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше. Распространённость курения среди взрослых составила 30,4%, при этом наблюдалась значительная разница между мужчинами и женщинами: курят 59,7% мужчин и 1,2% женщин. Для сравнения, в 2020 году этот показатель составлял 62,7% для мужчин и 2,5% для женщин. Общее число курящих в 2024 году составило примерно 64,4 миллиона человек, что немного меньше по сравнению с 64,5 миллионами в 2020 году. Доля взрослых, ежедневно употребляющих табачные изделия, в 2021 году составила 28,8%, причём среди мужчин — 52,3%, а среди женщин — 1,4%. Смертность, связанная с употреблением табака, продолжает оставаться серьёзной проблемой общественного здравоохранения в стране и составляет 12,27% от всех случаев смерти в 2021 году. В частности, на причины, связанные с курением, пришлось 17,77% всех смертей среди мужчин и 5,04% среди женщин. Это означает, что количество смертей, обусловленных употреблением табака, составило 268 614 в 2021 году, в том числе 220 846 мужчин и 47 767 женщин. Эти данные подчёркивают устойчивую остроту проблемы употребления табачных изделий в Индонезии и указывают на необходимость активных мер в области общественного здравоохранения для снижения высокой распространённости курения и смертности, связанной с ним.
