В Кабо-Верде по данным Всемирной организации здравоохранения (ВОЗ) распространённость курения табака среди взрослого населения в возрасте 15 лет и старше в 2024 году оценивалась в 7,3%, что свидетельствует о снижении по сравнению с показателем 7,7% в 2020 году. В 2024 году распространённость курения среди мужчин составляла 11,9%, среди женщин — 2,6%. Общее количество людей, которые курят табак, в 2024 году составляло примерно 28 000, что немного меньше по сравнению с 30 021 в 2020 году. В 2020 году распространённость ежедневного курения табака среди взрослых составляла 4,9%, при этом среди мужчин — 8,4%, среди женщин — 1,3%. В плане воздействия на здоровье на курение приходилось 3,75% всех случаев смерти в стране в 2021 году, что соответствует 137 случаям, из которых 110 были мужчинами и 27 женщинами, то есть смертность, связанная с курением, существенно выше среди мужчин. Необходимо продолжать реализацию регулирующих мер и мероприятий в сфере общественного здравоохранения в Кабо-Верде для противодействия вызовам, связанным с употреблением табака.
