В Бенине в 2024 году распространённость курения среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше оценивалась в 4,5%. При этом наблюдаются значительные гендерные различия: среди мужчин курят 8,4%, а среди женщин — 0,7%. Эти показатели свидетельствуют о снижении по сравнению с предыдущими годами: в 2020 году распространённость курения среди мужчин составляла 7,3%, среди женщин — 1,2%. Число людей, которые курят табак в Бенине, по оценкам, составляло 377 000 в 2024 году, что больше, чем в 2020 году (284 115), но меньше, чем в 2019 году (393 262). В 2018 году взрослые ежедневно курили табак с распространённостью 5,4%, причём среди мужчин этот показатель был 6,9%, а среди женщин — 1,4%. В 2021 году курение табака стало причиной 1,23% от всех случаев смерти в стране, причём среди мужчин этот показатель был выше (1,7%), чем среди женщин (0,63%). Общее количество смертей, связанных с курением табака в 2021 году, составило 1 282 (988 среди мужчин и 294 среди женщин). Эти данные подчёркивают проблемы общественного здравоохранения, связанные с курением табака в Бенине, а также гендерные различия в уровне курения и их влиянии на здоровье.
