W Beninie odsetek osób palących tytoń wśród dorosłych w wieku 15 lat i starszych wynosił w 2022 roku 4%. Dane te wskazują na wyraźne różnice między płciami: wśród mężczyzn odsetek ten wynosił 6,9%, a wśród kobiet 1,2%. Liczby te świadczą o spadku w porównaniu z poprzednimi latami; w 2020 roku rozpowszechnienie palenia tytoniu wynosiło 7,3% wśród mężczyzn i 1,2% wśród kobiet. Szacuje się, że łączna liczba palaczy tytoniu w Beninie wyniosła w 2022 roku 287 707 osób, co oznacza niewielki wzrost w porównaniu do 284 115 osób w 2020 roku, ale stanowi spadek względem 393 262 osób w 2019 roku. W 2018 roku rozpowszechnienie codziennego palenia tytoniu wśród dorosłych wynosiło 5,4%, przy czym wśród mężczyzn było to 6,9%, a wśród kobiet 1,4%. W 2021 roku zgony spowodowane paleniem tytoniu stanowiły 1,23% wszystkich zgonów w Beninie, przy czym odsetek ten był wyższy wśród mężczyzn (1,7%) niż wśród kobiet (0,63%).
