В Анголе табакокурение и его влияние на здоровье были подробно изучены на основе значительных данных последних лет. По отчёту «Глобальное бремя болезней» (GBD) за 2021 год, смертность, связанная с курением табака, составила 3,2% всех случаев смерти в стране в 2021 году, включая 4,93% смертей среди мужчин и 1,12% среди женщин. Общее количество смертей, обусловленных курением табака в 2021 году, достигло 7988, из которых 6725 мужчин и 1263 женщин. Для сравнения, данные за 2016 год показывали более высокий общий процент — 4,28% смертей, связанных с курением табака, с показателями 5,1% среди мужчин и 2,6% среди женщин. В том же году общее число смертей, вызванных курением, составило 6509, включая 4384 среди мужчин и 2125 среди женщин. Общее число взрослых, которые курят на данный момент, по оценкам на 2024 год, составляет 2,7 миллиона человек. Согласно данным Демографического и здравоохранительного обследования 2015–16 годов, среди взрослого населения (15–49 лет) ежедневное курение отмечалось у 8,8% мужчин и 1% женщин. Эти сведения дают всестороннее представление о бремени заболеваний, связанных с курением, в Анголе и подчёркивают необходимость проведения целевых мер общественного здравоохранения с целью снижения распространённости курения и связанных с ним последствий.
