W Katarze w ostatnich latach obserwuje się wyraźne zmiany w rozpowszechnieniu palenia tytoniu wśród dorosłych. W 2022 roku jako palaczy zidentyfikowano 418 276 osób w wieku 15 lat i starszych, co stanowi znaczący wzrost w porównaniu do 399 889 palaczy w 2020 roku oraz 318 105 w 2019 roku. Prewalencja palenia wśród dorosłych w 2022 roku wyniosła 16,4%, przy zauważalnych różnicach między płciami: 21,4% mężczyzn oraz 2% kobiet zadeklarowało, że aktualnie pali papierosy. Dla porównania, w 2020 roku odsetek palących wynosił 20,1% wśród mężczyzn i 1,7% wśród kobiet, co wskazuje na niewielki wzrost liczby palących kobiet w ciągu dwóch lat. Dla odniesienia, w 2013 roku codzienne palenie tytoniu wśród dorosłych wynosiło 9,5%, w tym 16,5% wśród mężczyzn i 1,7% wśród kobiet.
