W 2017 roku w Dżibuti było 61 000 codziennych palaczy, co stanowiło ogólny wskaźnik codziennego palenia na poziomie 9,9%, przy czym odsetek ten wynosił 18,6% wśród mężczyzn i 1,1% wśród kobiet. W 2021 roku palenie tytoniu było przyczyną 493 zgonów rocznie, co stanowiło 5,3% wszystkich zgonów w kraju. Spośród tych zgonów 408 dotyczyło mężczyzn, a 85 kobiet, co odpowiada odpowiednio 7,19% wszystkich zgonów mężczyzn i 2,34% wszystkich zgonów kobiet. Porównując te dane z 2016 rokiem, widać niewielki spadek ogólnego odsetka zgonów przypisywanych paleniu tytoniu z 8,94% do 5,3%. W szczególności zgony związane z paleniem tytoniu wśród mężczyzn zmniejszyły się z 10,5% do 7,19%, natomiast wśród kobiet nastąpił nieznaczny spadek z 3,9% do 2,34%. Dane te podkreślają, że palenie tytoniu pozostaje istotnym problemem zdrowia publicznego w kraju i wskazują na potrzebę dalszych działań w zakresie ograniczania negatywnego wpływu tytoniu na zdrowie.
