W Rwandzie rozpowszechnienie palenia tytoniu wśród osób dorosłych w wieku 15 lat i starszych w 2022 roku wynosiło według Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia (WHO) 8,6%. Dla porównania, w 2020 roku odsetek ten wynosił 9,9%. Z podziałem na płeć, w 2022 roku paliło 14,4% mężczyzn i 3,1% kobiet, podczas gdy w 2020 roku odsetki te wynosiły odpowiednio 15,4% i 4,7%. Szacuje się, że liczba palaczy w 2022 roku wyniosła 688 622 osoby, co oznacza spadek w porównaniu z 747 687 osobami w 2020 roku. Codzienne palenie tytoniu wśród dorosłych w 2021 roku dotyczyło 5,7% populacji, w tym 8,2% mężczyzn i 3,1% kobiet. Jeśli chodzi o wpływ na zdrowie, zgony związane z paleniem tytoniu w 2021 roku stanowiły 5,16% wszystkich zgonów w kraju, w tym 6,11% wśród mężczyzn i 4,1% wśród kobiet. Roczna liczba zgonów przypisywanych paleniu wynosiła 4 758, z czego 2 967 dotyczyło mężczyzn, a 1 791 kobiet. Dane te pokazują, że mimo pewnych postępów w ostatnich latach, palenie tytoniu pozostaje poważnym wyzwaniem dla zdrowia publicznego w Rwandzie.
