В Руанде, по оценкам Всемирной организации здравоохранения (ВОЗ), распространённость курения табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше в 2024 году составила 5,6%. Для сравнения, в 2020 году этот показатель составлял 9,9%. Если рассматривать данные по полу, в 2024 году табак курили 8,6% мужчин и 2,9% женщин, тогда как в 2020 году — 15,4% мужчин и 4,7% женщин. Общее число людей, которые курят, в 2024 году оценивалось в 491 000, что свидетельствует о заметном снижении по сравнению с 747 687 в 2020 году. Распространённость ежедневного курения среди взрослых в 2021 году составляла 5,7%, из них 8,2% мужчины и 3,1% женщины. Что касается влияния на здоровье, в 2021 году на смертность, связанную с курением, приходилось 5,16% всех случаев смерти в стране, в том числе 6,11% среди мужчин и 4,1% среди женщин. Ежегодное число смертей, обусловленных курением, составило 4 758, из них 2 967 среди мужчин и 1 791 среди женщин. Эти данные отражают сохраняющуюся проблему общественного здравоохранения, связанную с курением табака в Руанде, несмотря на определённый прогресс в снижении уровня распространённости курения в последние годы.
