Unlike cigarette smoke, e-cigarette vapour is not produced by tobacco combustion. As a result, it contains far lower levels of toxic substances than second-hand cigarette smoke.

Current evidence has not identified significant health risks to bystanders from exposure to second-hand vapour under normal conditions of use. However, exposure to second-hand vapour is not the same as exposure to clean air, and research continues as new evidence becomes available.
