No existen datos sobre la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco en Somalia. Sin embargo, en 2021 el país registró 4,998 muertes relacionadas con el consumo de tabaco; de estas, 3,905 correspondieron a hombres y 1,093 a mujeres. Las muertes atribuibles al tabaquismo representaron el 2.1% del total de fallecimientos en el país, con un 2.93% entre los hombres y un 1.05% entre las mujeres. Esto supone una disminución en comparación con 2016, cuando el número total de muertes relacionadas con el tabaco fue de 3,868 y el porcentaje de fallecimientos atribuibles al consumo de tabaco alcanzó el 4.53%. En ese año, la tasa de mortalidad masculina vinculada al tabaquismo fue del 5.5% y la femenina del 2.2%. Estas cifras evidencian el impacto persistente del consumo de tabaco en la salud pública de Somalia, a pesar de la reducción de la mortalidad en el período de cinco años.
