En Guinea, no se dispone de datos sobre la prevalencia del consumo de tabaco. Sin embargo, la mortalidad relacionada con el tabaquismo sigue representando un importante problema de salud pública, según los datos disponibles. En 2021, el Estudio de la Carga Global de Enfermedad (GBD, por sus siglas en inglés) informó que el consumo de tabaco fue responsable de aproximadamente el 2,41% de todas las muertes en el país, lo que representa una disminución en comparación con 2016, cuando el porcentaje fue del 5,24%. Además, el 3,35% de todas las defunciones masculinas y el 1,25% de las femeninas se atribuyeron al consumo de tabaco. En cifras absolutas, esto equivale a un total de 3.056 muertes, de las cuales 2.351 corresponden a hombres y 705 a mujeres. Estos datos reflejan un descenso respecto a 2016, año en el que el número total de muertes atribuibles al tabaquismo fue de 4.453, con 3.622 hombres y 831 mujeres. Asimismo, la Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud realizada en 2018 registró una prevalencia de consumo diario de tabaco del 10,5% entre los hombres adultos. Estos datos ponen de manifiesto el impacto persistente del tabaquismo en la salud pública de Guinea y resaltan la necesidad de mantener los esfuerzos para reducir sus efectos.
