En el Reino Unido, los cigarrillos electrónicos están permitidos y regulados conforme a la legislación nacional sobre productos de tabaco y nicotina. Sin embargo, una ley reciente prohíbe la distribución, la oferta y la posesión con fines de distribución de cigarrillos electrónicos desechables o de un solo uso. Además, todos los empaques deben llevar advertencias sanitarias, y la venta está restringida a personas mayores de 18 años. Los líquidos no deben superar una concentración de nicotina de 20 mg/ml y la capacidad máxima de los depósitos es de 2 ml. Aunque no existen restricciones en cuanto a la variedad de sabores, el uso de cigarrillos electrónicos en espacios públicos está regulado y depende de las normativas locales. En cuanto a la prevalencia, se estimó que en 2022 había unos 4.5 millones de personas que vapeaban habitualmente en el Reino Unido. La prevalencia actual de vapeo en adultos se calculó en un 10.7% para 2024. En 2022, el 7.9% de las mujeres adultas y el 9.5% de los hombres adultos eran usuarios actuales de cigarrillos electrónicos. Alrededor de 2.1 millones de adultos vapeaban diariamente en 2020, con una prevalencia diaria estimada del 5.2% en 2022, siendo del 3.5% entre las mujeres y del 6.4% entre los hombres. En 2020, el 14.2% de los adultos en el Reino Unido indicó haber probado alguna vez los cigarrillos electrónicos.
