Data sourced: 2025.   Page updated: 2025-10-30

In Saint Lucia, smoking is allowed subject to regulatory measures. The sale and purchase of cigarettes are legal, including purchases made online and from vending machines. Importing cigarettes for trade is also permitted with an import license. Cigarette packaging must bear health warnings to inform consumers of the risks of smoking. The minimum legal age to purchase cigarettes is 18 years. Smoking is legally restricted in certain public places to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke. However, there is no total ban on tobacco advertising. The total taxation rate on cigarettes in Saint Lucia is 43%. Regarding smoking prevalence, data from 2023 show that the number of current smokers was relatively low, with approximately 303 individuals. The adult current tobacco smoking prevalence was 0.2% overall, with 0.4% among females and 0.1% among males. For reference, data from 2017 indicate a higher adult daily smoking prevalence of 9.3%, including 16.2% among males and 2.5% among females, with about 13,200 daily smokers reported.
