Using HTP in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan Background
Data sourced: 2024.   Page updated: 2026-07-01

Heated tobacco products (HTPs) are legally allowed in Kazakhstan. These products cannot be purchased through online channels or vending machines but are available and can be bought from general retail stores. The law requires HTPs to have health warnings on their packaging and imposes restrictions on their use in public places. Notably, there are no restrictions on their flavours.

In 2019, there were an estimated 129,611 adult HTP users in Kazakhstan. This corresponds to an adult current HTP use prevalence of 1%.
