В Тувалу курение разрешено при соблюдении определённых правил. Продажа сигарет легальна, их также можно покупать через интернет, однако продажа через автоматы запрещена. Ввоз сигарет для торговли допускается при наличии импортной лицензии. Существует возрастное ограничение: минимальный возраст для приобретения табачных изделий составляет 18 лет. Кроме того, курение ограничено в общественных местах с целью защиты окружающих от пассивного курения. На сигареты в Тувалу действует совокупная ставка налогообложения 0,36. По данным на 2024 год, распространённость текущего употребления табака среди взрослых оценивалась в 33,5%, при этом отмечается выраженная разница между мужчинами и женщинами: среди мужчин курят 47,6%, среди женщин — 19,2%. Общее число людей, курящих на момент 2024 года, оценивалось примерно в 2 000 человек. Согласно данным за 2021 год, употребление табака стало причиной 17 случаев смертей в Тувалу: среди них 12 мужчин и 5 женщин. Таким образом, в 2021 году курение стало причиной 15,2% всех смертей в стране, включая 19,73% смертей среди мужчин и 9,93% среди женщин.
