В Суринаме курение разрешено законом с определёнными ограничениями. Сигареты можно легально продавать и приобретать, в том числе через интернет-платформы, однако продажа через торговые автоматы запрещена. Минимальный возраст для покупки сигарет составляет 18 лет. Продвижение сигарет регулируется, действует полный запрет на рекламу табака, а также обязательны предупреждения о вреде для здоровья на упаковке. Импорт сигарет с целью торговли разрешён, но существуют законодательные ограничения на курение в общественных местах. Сигареты в Суринаме облагаются общей ставкой налогообложения в размере 49%. По оценкам, в 2024 году в стране было около 62 000 человек, которые курят сейчас. В 2021 году в Суринаме около 332 смертей были связаны с курением, из них 250 — среди мужчин и 82 — среди женщин. Таким образом, курение стало причиной 6,19% всех смертей в стране, включая 8,28% случаев среди мужчин и 3,5% — среди женщин.
