В Кувейте курение табака продолжает оставаться серьёзной проблемой для общественного здравоохранения. По состоянию на 2024 год распространённость курения табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше составляла 24,5%, при этом отмечается значительная разница между мужчинами и женщинами: курят 37,3% мужчин и 2,4% женщин. Это свидетельствует о небольшом увеличении по сравнению с 2020 годом, когда подобные показатели составляли 33,9% среди мужчин и 2,3% среди женщин соответственно. Общее число тех, кто курит, по состоянию на 2024 год достигло 966 000 по сравнению с 736 502 в 2020 году, что говорит о тенденции к росту. Для справки, в 2022 году распространённость ежедневного курения табака среди взрослых составляла 37,3%, при этом среди мужчин – 58,9%, а среди женщин – 15,1%. Смертность, связанная с курением, по-прежнему вызывает тревогу в Кувейте: в 2021 году на долю курения табака приходилось 12,83% всех случаев смерти в стране, включая 16,11% среди мужчин и 4,25% среди женщин. Кроме того, табак стал причиной 1 549 смертей в 2021 году. Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющееся значительное воздействие курения табака на общественное здоровье в Кувейте и необходимость дальнейшего ужесточения регулирования для снижения растущей распространённости курения и связанных с этим последствий для здоровья.
