В Микронезии смертность, связанная с курением, представляет серьёзную проблему в сфере общественного здравоохранения. По данным за 2021 год, на смертность, вызванную курением, пришлось 17,89% всех случаев смерти в стране, что отражает незначительное увеличение по сравнению с 17,39% в 2016 году. Ежегодное число смертей, связанных с курением, достигло 146: 102 случая среди мужчин и 44 среди женщин. Это больше, чем в 2016 году, когда общее число было 132 случая (91 мужчина и 41 женщина). Удельный показатель смертности от курения среди мужчин составил 22,42% в 2021 году против 20,5% в 2016 году, среди женщин — 12,15% в 2021 году против 10,5% в 2016 году. Общее число тех, кто курят в настоящее время, по данным на 2024 год, оценивается в 28 000 человек. Распространённость ежедневного курения среди взрослого населения составляет 35,40%, причем среди мужчин — 39,80%, среди женщин — 25,40%. Также сообщается, что число ежедневных курящих составляет примерно 24 426 человек по состоянию на 2017 год. Эти данные свидетельствуют о продолжающемся негативном влиянии курения табака на общественное здоровье в Микронезии и подчеркивают необходимость постоянных усилий по снижению связанных с этим рисков для здоровья.
