В Египте в 2017 году насчитывалось 124 300 человек, регулярно употребляющих традиционные некурительные табачные изделия. Среди взрослых их использует лишь 0,2%, причём среди женщин не зафиксировано случаев употребления, а среди мужчин этот показатель немного выше — 0,4%. Повседневное использование в том же году встречалось ещё реже: всего 0,1% — среди женщин опять ноль, среди мужчин 0,2%. Продукт официально разрешён и регулируется как табачное изделие. Его можно легально приобретать онлайн, использовать и продавать по всей стране. Упаковка должна содержать предупреждения о вреде для здоровья, при этом установлен строгий возрастной порог для продажи — не младше 18 лет.
