По состоянию на 2024 год распространённость курения табака среди взрослых в Египте оставалась высокой: общий показатель среди людей в возрасте 15 лет и старше составил 24,9%. Примечательно, что среди мужчин этот показатель достигал 49,2%, тогда как среди женщин — только 0,4%. Общее количество взрослых, которые в настоящее время курят в Египте, составило примерно 19,5 миллиона человек в 2024 году. Для сравнения, в 2020 году распространённость курения среди взрослых была немного ниже и составляла 21,1%, при этом среди мужчин курили 41,8%, а среди женщин — 0,3%. В 2019 году распространённость курения составляла 21,4% в целом, среди мужчин — 42,3%, а среди женщин — 0,4%. В 2017 году ежедневное курение табака среди взрослых составляло 18,4%, среди мужчин — 35,3%, среди женщин — 0,4%. Смертность, связанная с курением, в 2021 году составила 11% от всех случаев смерти — 78 337 умерших, из них 66 464 мужчины и 11 873 женщины. Это означает, что ежегодная доля всех смертей, обусловленных курением табака, в 2021 году составила 15,6% среди мужчин и 4,16% среди женщин. Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющуюся проблему для общественного здравоохранения, обусловленную курением табака в Египте, что требует дальнейших активных мер по снижению негативных последствий курения для здоровья населения.
