В Демократической Республике Конго, по оценкам Всемирной организации здравоохранения (ВОЗ) на 2024 год, распространённость курения табака среди взрослого населения в возрасте 15 лет и старше составляет 8,9%. Этот показатель немного снизился по сравнению с 8,6% в 2020 году. Распространённость курения табака значительно выше среди мужчин — 16,3% по сравнению с 1,7% среди женщин в 2024 году. Кроме того, количество курящих в возрасте 15 лет и старше в 2024 году оценивается примерно в 5,1 миллиона человек, что отражает увеличение по сравнению с примерно 3,9 миллиона в 2020 году. Для сравнения: в 2017 году ежедневное потребление табака среди взрослых составляло 26,5% среди мужчин и 4,1% среди женщин. По данным за 2021 год, ежегодное число смертей, связанных с курением табака, составило 15 232, причём мужчины составили большинство этих случаев (12 180) по сравнению с женщинами (3 052). Смертность, связанная с курением, составила 2,18% от общего числа смертей в стране, что свидетельствует о снижении по сравнению с 4,19% в 2016 году. Эти данные подчёркивают сохраняющуюся проблему общественного здравоохранения, вызванную курением табака в Демократической Республике Конго, особенно среди мужчин, и указывают на необходимость продолжения мониторинга и принятия мер по снижению негативного воздействия курения на здоровье населения.
