По данным Всемирной организации здравоохранения (ВОЗ), распространённость курения табака среди взрослых в возрасте 15 лет и старше в Ботсване по состоянию на 2024 год оценивалась в 14,2%. Этот показатель отражает незначительное снижение по сравнению с 14,4% в 2020 году, однако он всё ещё значительно ниже, чем 18,9%, зафиксированных в 2019 году. В разрезе по полу в 2024 году доля мужчин, которые курят, составила 25,7%, тогда как среди женщин этот показатель был заметно ниже — 3%. Согласно данным о смертности, связанной с курением табака в Ботсване за 2021 год, курение стало причиной 4,23% всех случаев смерти — 909 среди мужчин и 278 среди женщин, что в совокупности составляет 1 188 случаев. Tobacco harm reduction in Sub-Saharan Africa

With the number of tobacco users across the continent set to rise by 2025, we look at the current state of tobacco harm reduction in the region, assessing the progress made so far and the obstacles preventing greater adoption of safer nicotine products.
