В Азербайджане курение разрешено законом с определёнными ограничениями. Разрешено употребление, продажа и покупка сигарет, в том числе через онлайн-каналы, однако покупка сигарет через автоматы запрещена. Ввоз сигарет для торговли возможен при наличии лицензии. На упаковке сигарет обязательно размещение предупреждений о вреде для здоровья, а минимальный возраст для их приобретения установлен на уровне 18 лет. Кроме того, существуют законодательные ограничения на курение в общественных местах. На табачные изделия действует общий налог в размере 50%. По данным на 2024 год, в Азербайджане насчитывалось примерно 1,4 миллиона взрослых, которые в настоящее время курят, что составляет 18,2% взрослого населения. Среди мужчин распространённость курения составляла 37,9%, а среди женщин — 0,1%. Согласно данным за 2017 год, около 1,2 миллиона взрослых ежедневно курят. Доля регулярно курящих взрослых составляла 16,3%, среди мужчин — 33,2%, среди женщин — 0,2%. В 2021 году, по оценкам, табакокурение стало причиной примерно 11,3 тысячи смертей в Азербайджане, из которых 9,3 тысячи приходились на мужчин и 2 тысячи — на женщин. Это составляет 12,6% всех случаев смерти в стране, в том числе 18,81% случаев среди мужчин и 4,91% — среди женщин за указанный год.
