W Turcji palenie tytoniu jest dozwolone pod określonymi warunkami regulacyjnymi. Zgodnie z przepisami sprzedaż papierosów jest legalna, jednak zabronione jest ich kupowanie w automatach oraz przez internet. Import papierosów w celach handlowych jest dozwolony po uzyskaniu odpowiedniej licencji. Inne ograniczenia obejmują obowiązkowe ostrzeżenia zdrowotne na opakowaniach oraz minimalny wiek 18 lat wymagany do zakupu papierosów. Obowiązują również prawne ograniczenia dotyczące palenia w miejscach publicznych, a reklama papierosów jest zakazana. Łączna stawka podatkowa na papierosy wynosi 81%. Według szacunków z 2024 roku, liczba obecnych palaczy w Turcji wynosiła około 21,1 miliona, a ogólna częstość palenia wśród dorosłych wynosiła 30,8%. Odsetek ten był znacznie wyższy wśród mężczyzn (42,1%) niż kobiet (19,7%). Dane z 2019 roku wskazują, że codziennie paliło 41,3% mężczyzn i 14,9% kobiet, a ogólna częstość codziennego palenia wśród dorosłych wynosiła 28%.
