Republika Irlandii przestrzega unijnej dyrektywy w sprawie wyrobów tytoniowych (TPD) z 2014 roku. Przepisy dotyczące e-papierosów są określone w Rozporządzeniu Wykonawczym nr 271 z 2016 roku, czyli w regulacjach Unii Europejskiej dotyczących produkcji, prezentacji i sprzedaży wyrobów tytoniowych oraz pokrewnych. E-papierosy zawierające nikotynę są traktowane jako wyroby tytoniowe. Używanie e-papierosów nie jest oficjalnie zabronione w miejscach publicznych, jednak wiele obiektów wprowadziło własne zakazy. Reklama krajowa jest dozwolona w ramach przepisów unijnych, a sprzedaż transgraniczna pozostaje legalna pod warunkiem rejestracji sprzedawcy u władz.
